Lily is just like her name small and sweet.

Lily is an 8 year young little girl who loves to play with squeaky toys and balls.  She has lots of energy and can jump high for a squeak toy.

Lily loves to go on walks and cuddle on the couch. She will sleep in bed with you right up against you because she loves you. She isn't a yapper but will let you know if a horse goes by or there is a skunk nearby. She doesn't beg for people food but will lay at your feet. She can "sit pretty", "lay down" "shake hands" and "speak".

She will jump up on your chest and give you kisses. She will eagerly greet you at the door when you come home. she loves to ay in the sun like a bathing beauty.  She is a little sparse in the hair department but it doesn't detract from her natural beauty and she looks so cute with a bow in her hair although she isn't too foo foo.

She loves to go in the car for rides but not in a crate she would rather sit on your lap.  She is not  good in a crate so if she needs to be left alone she will need to be confined in a kitchen or laundry room. She gets along well with other dogs but seems shy at first until she warms up and then she loves to play tug of war and chase me around the table.

She is trained to bells to go outside and will let you know if she needs food or water. She is using a doggie door now to go in and out and likes that very much because she can go outside and sun herself whenever she wants to. So if you are looking for a little girl to love you with all her heart Lily is the girl for you and she is housebroken too.

Lily does like a good chase with my cat but she is just playing. Lily will jump up in your lap so please don't pick her up all you have to do is ask her to jump up on your lap and she is glad to do that for you. She is good when you give her a bath too.

So if you need someone to keep you company Lily is your girl.
She is vacationing with Mary Ellen near Lancaster, PA

Please put in your application and then call Mary Ellen.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
