Ginger is a sweet sweet little girl. You can't find a nicer girl. Her owner died leaving Ginger and her brother alone. While the children of the owner swore to care for her, they dumped her at a high kill shelter... this story is so old, we hate to keep repeating it.

Senior citizens - if you have a dog - be sure you make plans and save finances for its care. Don't trust your children to do it.

Back to Ginger...

Ginger loves people! She is very laid back. Very smart. Listens well when spoken to.

Sometimes we think she understands English. So sweet.

She likes attention but is not needy.. She is great with children and has behaved well with other little dogs we have met on our walks. She rarely ever barks excpet when we play with toys.

She will overeat if given the chance. She needs to lose a couple pounds.

While she enjoys walks, she would be completly content to snuggle inside all day.

She has not had one accident in the house. (We are SHOCKED by how well trained they both are) She uses wee wee pads.

She is learning manners around food. She is use to bullying the food away from her brother once she is finished inhaling her food. She simply walks over and uses her weight to push him out of the way. It only took her two feeding sessions to understand that that kind of behavior is not acceptable.

She is very smart.

Both Ginger and Snickers will jump at your legs when they expect food. So every time they potty they expect treats.

She is just about perfect. She is confident and not jumpy at all. She does not like the vaccum cleaner but other than that she is pretty easy going. She and Snickers chase the vaccum cleaner and bite at it - just as EVERY Yorkie we know of, does the same thing.

We don't think she likes big dogs.

Ginger would be great for anyone! She would be perfect for an elderly person. She walks very nicely on a leash, she loves to snuggle all day, listens and is obediant and is very chilled out and easy going. Plus she's a very pretty little girl.  Oh and she loves to be groomed.

Ginger lets her foster mom touch her everywhere, feet, teeth, ears, around her eyes.

Ginger has never shown any aggression to anyone. We could go on about her forever,

Please consider this little girl. She is vacationing in Allentown, PA with Rachel. Give her a call

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
