He's a GENIUS! Well, ok, he is just ingenious - and well mannered, healthy, a delightful Yorkie boy.

He is good with  house training.  He loves the outdoors.  Someone with a yard would be perfect for him.  He loves to run when he plays.  Throw a ball and he will chase it across your yard, but he is not for play so much in the house.  He LOVES his walks and car rides.  He likes to walk at a fast pace, so if you can't keep up with his stride, forget it.  He loves to chase bunnies on his walk (I'm trying to break him of that)......so hold on tight to the leash, because if he sees a bunny, he'll snap the leash right out of your hands.

 He will bark when a stranger walks in the house, but immediately stops when they acknowlege him.    He loves ALL other dogs...small, medium, and very large......so be cautious around the big dogs because he thinks they are ALL friendly and will go right up to them.

He is VERY loyal to his person.  When you sit, he will sit next to you.....when you lay down, he's right at your feet.  When you put your shoes on, he wants to go with you.  When he see's his leash, he gets very excited.  He wants an active family who will take him places and include him in everything.  He is great in the house alone, and will stay in whatever areas he thinks is his.....and no accidents. 

He sleeps all night without any accidents.  He doesn't want to use a newspaper or a wee wee pad....he wants to do his business outside.  He can hold his bladder, but is counting on YOU to make sure he gets out regularly to potty.  He is fine with a potty schedule and will sometimes tell you by going to the door.  If he potty's before you leave the house, he will be a good boy while you are gone for a few hours.  No crating necessary for this little gentleman. 

 His teeth are beautiful and pearly white.  He likes to be hugged and kissed.  He also likes to be held, but he's a big boy, so not an easy task.  He loves to jump and run and play outside, but once in the house, he turns into a calm, perfect gentleman.  It seems like he had a fenced in yard where he could run till his hearts content.  If he can't run....he won't be happy.

Davinci is the perfect dog for an active family, or a family with older kids.  If you want to play, he'll play....if you want to snuggle, he's a lover boy.  If you need someone to talk to, he listens patiently and never judges.

 His teeth are pearls. No health issues here - he's got all of his shots and he's ready, Baby!

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you. 

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
