They didn't have time for her any more!

For this dear, sweet, loving little Yorkie girl - they didn't have time!  They gave her away - with nothing - no food, no toys, no bed. They had her in their home and family for many years - but threw her away, like a used Kleenex.

How COULD they?!  We ask that all the time. here's a little poem to think about..

One by One, They pass by my cage,
“Too old, too worn, too broken, no way.

Way past his time, he can’t run and play.”

They shake their heads slowly and go on their way.

A little old dog, arthritic and sore,

It seems I am not wanted anymore.

I once had a home, I once had a bed.

A place that was warm, and where I was fed.

Whatever excuse they made in their head,

Can’t justify how they left me for dead.

Now I sit and wait - day after day,

The younger dogs get adopted away.

When I had almost come to the end of my rope,

You saw my face, and I finally had hope.

You saw through the gray,, and the legs bent with age,

And felt I still had a life beyond this space.

You took me home, gave me food and a bed,

And shared your own pillow with my poor tired head.

We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low,

You love me dearly, you want me to know.

I have lived most of my life with another,

But you out shine them with a love so much

stronger.

And I promise to return all the love I can give,

To you, my dear person, as long as I live.

I may be with you for a week or for years,

We will share many smiles, you will no doubt shed tears.

And when the time comes that God deems I must

leave,

I know you will cry and your heart, it will grieve.

And when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new,

My thoughts and my heart will still be with you.

And I will brag to all who will hear.

Of the person who made my last days so dear.

Lexy is in Arlington, VA with Maria. We are paying for her vet visit, her vaccinations, her grooming. We'll do her hair and nails and send her to you with a bed, toys, a jacket and our love.  She is a nice mature Yorkie girl who just LOVES to be held. Laps are her favorite vacation spot. She wants to be with you, and sleep on your bed.

This is the pretty one that you have been looking to rescue. So here she is - call now and help her come to the home where people have time for dogs - YOURS!

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
