Big Ears Baxter has really turned into a wonderful dog. He is friendly to everyone who comes into the house and others that he meets elsewhere. When we went for the Santa picture he was fine with kids who were about 8 and above but we would prefer no children in the home because he came from a home where the children abused him. He might remember that and not trust them. He absolutely loves to play fetch with the ball and would do anything to be able to sit on your lap. He is extremely loyal and wants his human company more than anything. He gets separation anxiety when left totally alone for long periods of time but that has improved if there are others in the house like, Kodi, the other dog in the foster home. He and Kodi have become friends. Kodi now tries to take the ball away from Baxter who growls at Kodi, but it is all play. They never fight. That might have something to do with Kodi never challanging Baxter. So, he can bond with another dog. Baxter listens very well as long as he views you as the alpha. There are certain places off limits and he respects that most of the time. He will allow someone to check his eyes regularly and even check his teeth. He is basically house trained. Oh, I forgot to mention that in the beginning he never barked, but as he has become comfortable with this home he occassionly does bark, but it is seldom and he listens when I tell him to be quiet. Baxter is in essence, a wonderful Yorkie worth adopting into your home. So please call his Mom,Lynn at 610-678-4746 and tell her you want to take him home. He is in Reading, PA. The kind voice of the animal shelter volunteer asked a simple question: "Will you take this dog? His name is Baxter." Tell me more, I said. What is his story. "Well, he's afraid of feet. They say he was kicked by a boy in his family. So he is not fond of children But if you won't take him, he'll be dead by 6:00 pm." NOT on OUR watch!!! And that's where YOU come in. Is your home one with no children? Do you know Yorkies? Would you like a great dog who really wants attention and whatever kindness you have for him? He is sweet, loving, he ADORES women and wants to be on your lap and as close to you as he can get. He is great with other dogs too. He knows his name, he loves to play with toys - he is as sweet as he can be. Baxter would be a wonderful dog to cuddle with during the cold winter that is coming. Call his foster mom, Lynn and ask for Baxter. He's waiting contentedly now because the clock isn't ticking against him anymore.
