Candee Candee was adopted by Susan and Luigi from Pittsburgh Pa. They drove to meet Candee in Milton, De. They were familiar with the area and stayed at a local hotel. They had dinner on arrival Monday evening and visited and met Candee so they could see Candee's evening insulin preparation and injection. Candee was able to briefly meet them and give some cuddles. Susan had tears in her eyes when the left but knew she would be back in the morning to complete the adoption. Candee has come a long way from a very thin, weak newly diagnosed diabetic. Her sweet and loving personality were always present. Lynda Caridy was her foster to begin with but had plans and needed to have someone continue with managing her diabetes. That's when Candee came to me. She learned to potty outside and pads at night. We learned she loves people more than anything, she has joy in being outside and exploring with her person. As soon as the diabetes was controlled Candee had her surgery for a dental cleaning with several extractions, her microchip was placed and because she was diabetic her dewclaws were removed this way there will be no infections if one was torn during grooming or play. When the cone came off we went to the groomers. The Veterinarian, staff, groomers and everyone who met Candee wanted to adopt her. I am so grateful to the volunteers who do the home visits, call the Veterinarian s and phone interviews! Candee went to the perfect home! Susan told me she hasn't stopped smiling. At some point Susan spoke to Donna about Candee. We all knew the fit was perfect. Susan told me she couldn't meet Candee fast enough. She said having a diabetic dog in the past made the decision easy. Susan wanted a sweet companion, to be at her side Susan and Luigi text me daily to ask questions and to share happy moments. They are a perfect match! Congratulations Candee!
Colbie This past Monday I got an email planning a push to get Colbie adopted; several people on a team would work together to find Colbie a home. Each of us had a job. I was to get him groomed and take some great pictures. Another person was going to put them on the website and someone else do Instagram and Facebook and so on. I forwarded the email to my husband so he would know what was going on. He immediately came upstairs from his office and said, "We should keep Colbie. He has become part of our family and if he leaves, we will all miss him, even me, and Bella (our first failed Foster) will miss him a lot." That was enough for me! I had been wanting to adopt Colbie for weeks. He has become such a wonderful, funny little companion. He has a schedule, and he has settled down a little bit. Don't get me wrong, we still go on plenty of walks and play lots of games! But now that Colbie feels comfortable and loved in his home, he's not quite so at loose ends and incredibly high energy all the time. This week he started classes with a trainer, and he has already learned to settle and stay and to touch. Goals: less craziness getting out the door. Less craziness when meeting other dogs on the sidewalk. Wish us luck with the training and the journey. We certainly feel lucky to have adopted Colbie! Congratulations Colbie!!!
Kaleigh Well, the tears are flowing! Kaleigh has found a fur-ever home that is just as special as she is! We were greeted by Mary Claire and Richard and their adorable yorkies, Kadie and Molly. They made the two hour trek from New Jersey to Delaware to meet Kaleigh and surely, they werenâÃÂÃÂt disappointed! The three yorkie girls met and got along beautifully, greeting each other with puppy kisses! After spending some time with Kaleigh and seeing how the girls interacted, Mary Claire and Richard were ready to make the big decision to take Kaleigh to her forever home. Although Kaleigh is taking a piece of my heart with her two hours away, I am beyond excited that she was able to find a family that seems to suit her so well! A main point I was looking for in her forever home was high activity between people and dogs so I couldnâÃÂÃÂt be happier knowing that Kaleigh will be spending her days soaking up the sun on an island in New Jersey with her new yorkie sisters and any new friends she will make along the way. I felt at ease to see Kaleigh enjoy Kadie and MollyâÃÂÃÂs company along with being comfortable around Mary Claire and Richard. The final goodbye as she was loaded into the car was heartbreaking but I feel better knowing that her new family will keep her safe and continue to give her the life she deserves. To Kaleigh - thank you for being the bestest friend Winston and Phoebe could ever ask for. You were a great addition to our pack and I know Kadie and Molly will feel the same way. I wish you nothing but the best of luck in your new home, sweet girl. YouâÃÂÃÂll always have a piece of our hearts here in Delaware! We love you! Congratulations Kaleigh!!!
Lacey Lacey has been such an added joy to our family. She has gone through quite a but while under our care and I am glad to report she is now at her best considering. It makes my heart smile to see her adapt to us and our home so well. She is my little purse, my baby, my comfort, my motivation, etc. She is a part of my family. We are happy she chose us and that we can offer her a home! Congratulations Lacey!!!
Jaxx Thursday was a very very special day for both Jaxx and Bob. It was gotcha day for Jaxx. As soon as Bob arrived Jaxx was all over him. We took care of the paperwork and questions and Bob took Jaxx for a walk while I packed up all of Jaxx's treasures. We visited for a bit more and my eyes were giving away what my heart was feeling so it was time for them to go. I got 5 pictures and a text and they were only gone an hour or so. I believe it was a match made in heaven and Save a Yorkie Rescue, Inc. Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
