Prince of Lancaster Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The Prince of Lancaster has chosen his forever family and henceforth shall be known as Prince. We couldn't have asked for a better meet and greet day than November 14. It was a crisp and sunny day that made being outdoors a pleasure. Mike, Liliane and Noah arrived promptly at 10 AM to meet Prince. They had driven to the Fairfax area from Pennsylvania the night before. As with almost anyone, Prince walked up to them to get pats and scratches but that wasn't good enough, he knew these folks were friends forever and rolled over on the cold cement driveway to get a tummy rub. We followed the meeting with a walk around the neighborhood with Mike, Noah and Prince taking the lead. Prince did great. There were a couple of looks over his shoulder at Liliane and I who were chatting and strolling more leisurely but Prince easily accepted Mike and Noah to walk him. Then we went back to the house where Liliane got out some treats and Noah offered them to Prince. Of course Prince got excited about that and jumped into to Noah's lap! Prince, Mike and Noah spent some time in our fenced backyard so they could observe Prince off leash. Liliane and I started going over the items in Prince's SAYR Tote, the notes compiled about Prince and the adoption agreement. Mike joined us and we took care of paperwork. Then it was time to gather everything together and watch Prince stroll down the driveway with Mike, Liliane and Noah. We waived goodbye and could hear Prince barking from the crate. Seems that he kept barking so Liliane held him in her lap for the several hour trip back to Pennsylvania. I think everyone would agree holding a 16 pound wiggly dog for several hours is the trait of a very good doggie Mom! From all reports, Prince has settled in nicely, met the neighbors and neighborhood dogs and had a wonderful 30 minute walk on new terrain full of new scents to explore and dream about. It's foreseen there will be many happy years ahead. Congratulations to Mike, Liliane and Noah and Prince!!!
Charlie Brown This is Foster Mom and Charlie Brown! Our official adoption picture! We made it official this weekend by buying him his own personal name tag...nothing generic for our newest fur baby! He is such a sweet boy and learning how to be a real dog every day by his brother Gizmo...how to beg, barking, greet dad with tail wags at the door. He is getting closer to learning to play...he now will sniff at toys! Weâre excited to add him officially to our home! Congratulations Charlie Brown!!!
Bentlie Bentlie was adopted on Wednesday to Joe Buser, a first time adopter and new volunteer! Joe drove down from Bethlehem PA to meet Bentlie and it was love at first sight. Joe was so sweet with Bentlie, he got right down on the ground to play with him. Bentlie was loving all the attention and quickly forgot I was even there. Joe stayed overnight with friends close by and picked up Bentlie to head home Thursday morning. Joe doesnât have any other dogs so Bentlie will be the king of the castle. Joe seems like he will be a wonderful forever home for Bentlie and a great volunteer for SAY Rescue. Joe even agreed to drive another foster here in Virginia to his new foster home in PA. Iâve received lots of pictures and updates from Joe and it sounds like Bentlie is getting along great. Bentlie just wants to be with his person and Joe is the perfect fit for him. Joe works from home and plans to take Bentlie everywhere he goes and he said no wraps or crates ever again. I told him Bentlie could have an accident in the house, he told me thereâs nothing in the house that canât be replaced except Bentlie ð Congratulations Bentlie!!!
Aja Sweet Aja has found her forever home. Lori and Mervin drove 2 hours to meet this special little girl and fell in love with her immediately. They spent time getting to know her, play with her and took her for a walk. All things that won her over. They said she slept all night and they were enjoying getting to know each other. She is a precious, sweet girl and I'm excited she will be loved and spoiled. Congratulations Aja!!!
Tot Tot, who we decided finally to name Louie, I am happy to say is my foster fail. I love them all, but I think we have found our perfect match. Since day 2 he's been following me around like my shadow. He is such a happy little boy. He is happy to be with other adults as well as children. His temperament is always sweet, even when his new brother gives him a little growl to show who was here first! Louie's favorite thing to do is go on walks. He sees the leash and goes nuts! Have to work on him keeping up with me and not dragging me along. He is smart, and knows to do his business outside...giving him treats when he comes in is working. I feel that him and my Kobe will be kind to any other fosters we bring in. Love being part of such a great organization that brings joy to so many people, now us includedÂ!
