Sully Sully is such a special boy who has truly blossomed into the best version of himself. As some of you may know, Sully was moved to my house to be fostered so he could undergo behavioral training. He was uncomfortable and untrusting of just about everyone and everything in his life. We didnât know much about his background since he was brought into rescue as a stray. He struggled immensely but Save a Yorkie Rescue had hope that we could help this guy be the best dog that he can be! I was instructed to not have him advertised or on the website until I was confident that he had changed his behaviors and was a safe dog to adopt out. After a couple months of consistent training and trust building, I was happy to announce that he was ready to be put on the website. Kelsie and Pat saw this the very next morning and immediately reached out to me. That was fast! We had a great conversation about all the training Sully has been through and they were confident that they could take this on. We scheduled a Meet & Greet and everything was absolutely perfect! Sully snuggled right up to Pat on the floor and was on his back getting belly rubs practically the whole time. It was safe to say that Kelsie and Pat fell in love with Sully, and Sully fell in love with them! I had previously mentioned to them that Sully likes all the red toys in my house and they were sweet enough to bring him a red toy. Kelsie and Pat asked if Iâd be able to hold onto Sully for an extra two weeks because they were traveling and wanted Sully to have a smooth transition where they could consistently be there for him. Given Sullyâs history and how awesome he was with them, we could not say no! Plus, it gave me an extra two weeks to savor my Sully-time before he was off to his forever home. Sure enough, two weeks later, Kelsie and Pat swung by on their way home from their travels to pick him up. Sully was just as happy to see them again and he trotted off into their car with no problem! As they drove off, Sully and I made eye contact from the window and all I could do was just wish him the best of luck on this new chapter of his life. This is when the tears started flowing, of course. I am so happy for and proud of him for overcoming such a challenging behavioral issue so that he can live the rest of his life in happiness and peace. I will truly miss him and he will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thank you Kelsie and Pat for giving this boy the second chance at life that he deserves! Congratulations Sully!!!
Wispy Willow Wispy Willow joined our home a little over two weeks ago as a foster. She stole our hearts the moment we met her. She arrived as a shy dog, afraid of humans and dogs. She made visible progress every day and now seeks out our Corgi to play, and her parents for pets and a lap to sit on. She gets along well with our elderly dog and knows how to leave him be and develop boundaries. Her enthusiasm and eagerness to discover the world are contagious, which is why it only took us a few days to start the adoption proceedings. Congratulations Wispy Willow!!!
Miki Quality not quantity! In the end it didnât matter how few applications came in for Miki because all that mattered was the one that was submitted by his now forever family, the Gaetas. In 2020, the Gaetas adopted JoJo (Calvin/Cal), one of my fosters from SAYR. So, when Karen Gaeta called me to talk about the possibility of adopting Miki, I had no doubt that this could be the only application that he needed to give him his forever home. A little backstoryâ¦a few weeks before Miki came into our lives, Karen had texted me to let me know that sadly Cal had passed over the rainbow bridge. Tragically, they had also lost their first beloved Yorkie, Chloe, a few months earlier. The family missed them terribly. When Miki arrived at our home and became available for adoption, Karen understandably, wasnât sure if her family was ready to bring a new pup into their lives. We continued to talk and text, sending pictures and updates on Mikiâs adorable personality. It wasnât long before they fell in love. The heart has the astonishing ability to expand. And welcoming a new dog into your life after losing one can be like discovering a secret chamber within your heart. Cal and Chloe showed the Gaetas that they have unlimited amounts of love in their hearts, and of course, that life is better shared with dogs. So we celebrate Cal and Chloeâs memories and the joy that Miki will bring as they welcome this new family member into their home. Congratulations to all!!!
Bernard Jack and Bernie have been with us 6 weeks. They arrived as frighten, disheveled dogs who lacked trust and confidence. In a safe loving environment these two dogs have shown what wonderful personalities they have. They are happy, trusting and secure with us. They wake up in the morning and start wiggling their bodies, wagging their tales and Jack has started to squeal to communicate. Jack and Bernie are such good dogs and they make us so happy. We knew we could not let them go so, we're happy to say THEY HAVE FOUND THEIR FOREVER HOME.
